The “School for All” project takes place in one of the poorest areas of the world, West Africa, specifically in Matandani, Malawi.
Over 40% of Malawi’s population, the majority of whom are housewives, live below the poverty line. Agriculture is the main source of income, but arable land is unequally distributed, and crops are vulnerable to drought. The education system in Malawi is deficient, and it represents the only chance for locals to improve their living conditions.
Therefore, our project targets the Vocational School in Matandani, located 100 km from Blantyre, the capital of this country. Carbon Expert, along with a few other donors, sponsors a Romanian family who moved to Matandani in November 2011. This family currently manages the vocational school and oversees the school’s rehabilitation works.
Since the relocation of the two Romanians to Matandani, the number of students has increased fivefold: from 50 students in 2011 to approximately 250 students currently, with around 200 of them residing in the school dormitory, coming from distant poor regions.
You can see images of the newly renovated campus and the poor villages in the region that we are trying to help here.

In addition to continuing the rehabilitation constructions and providing primary necessities for the boarding students, Carbon Expert supports two voluntary CO2 reduction projects:
- Carrying out sewage and water supply works for the school (“Water Benefit Project”)
- Manufacturing cooking stoves at the school and distributing them in the region to also obtain voluntary carbon credits (“Cook-Stoves Project”)
