EU ETS For Aviation

The EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) extended to the aviation sector, covering flights within the European Economic Area (EEA). Airlines must monitor, report, and verify their CO₂ emissions, and they receive a limited number of free allowances, having to purchase any additional allowances needed.

CORSIA

Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA): a global market-based measure developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to offset international aviation emissions. From 2021, CORSIA requires airlines to offset the growth in CO₂ emissions from international flights above 2020 levels.
