After a year and a half of work, we are pleased to announce the launch of Recyclima, a platform created by the Carbon Expert team for companies in the recycling sector and for organizations that want to better understand the climate impact of their activities that generate wastes in different quantities.
The idea behind Recyclima came from a need we have encountered frequently in recent years: recycling creates real value, but that value is not always easy to quantify clearly or communicate effectively. Companies are required to send the waste generated from their activities for recycling, but they do not know how many emissions are saved through this process. This is where we step in with Recyclima.com.
In Europe, recycling has become increasingly important, especially with the development of the Deposit Return System for packaging. During this period, Carbon Expert has become increasingly specialized in the recycling sector, working with some of the largest players in Europe, including Green Group, AS Metal, Greentech, GreenWEE, Romcarbon, and GreenPoint. This experience led to the creation of a platform dedicated to those who actively contribute to the circular economy.
Recyclima calculates the CO₂e emissions avoided through recycling and automatically generates a Recyclima Certificate for avoided CO₂ emissions, based on the quantity of wastes sent for recycling. The calculation is performed using a methodology aligned with relevant international standards, including ISO 14064-2 and the GHG Protocol.
Recyclima is designed to support organizations that want to transform recycling activities into clearer data that can be easily used in communication, reporting, and discussions with partners. The platform provides a simple overview of CO₂e emissions avoided through recycling.
We understand that, at first, such a platform may seem technical. However, all you need to do is enter the types of waste/recycled material and the quantity, and the software automatically calculates the emissions savings or avoided emissions, generating a personalized certificate showing these avoided emissions by type of waste.
